Rep. Donohoe Named a Pro-Jobs Legislator
and Champion of the Taxpayer
The Kansas Chamber of Commerce has named Representative Owen Donohoe as a Pro-Jobs Legislator for the 2007 Kansas Legislative Session.
Rep. Donohoe, whose 39th District includes Basehor, Bonner Springs, Leavenworth and western Shawnee, was recognized by the Chamber this summer for promoting jobs and economic growth initiatives in the legislature.
"Representative Donohoe has demonstrated a pro-business approach to public policy decisions as well as a behind-the-scenes leadership approach to improving the Kansas business climate," said Kansas Chamber Interim CEO Terry Leatherman.
The Chamber cited Rep. Donohoe's work in the legislature to achieve lower overall business taxes and unemployment compensation taxes as particularly noteworthy. The Chamber is the leading statewide business advocacy group.
"Our work to craft and support legislation that promotes more private-sector jobs and economic growth has been most rewarding," said Rep. Donohoe. "We're starting to turn the tide and get Kansas growing again."
In the 2007 Legislative Session, Rep. Donohoe served on the Economic Development, Education and Federal and State Affairs Committees. Rep. Donohoe has worked extensively on measures to stimulate economic growth in order to reduce the massive state debt, which currently exceeds $4 billion.
Rep. Donohoe also helped lead and support tax relief measures for seniors, small businesses and low-income workers during the recent session. He was named "Champion of the Taxpayer" in the Kansas Legislature for his diligent work in holding the line on spending and returning hard-earned dollars to Kansas taxpayers. Rep. Donohoe will continue to work on initiatives that reduce taxes and encourage job growth in the upcoming legislative session.
"Pro-Jobs Legislators like Representative Donohoe are critically important to the state's business community as together we work to advance a pro-growth agenda that will make Kansas the best place in America to do business," Leatherman explained.
"We appreciate the hard work of Representative Owen Donohoe to grow jobs, the economy, and to move Kansas forward," he added.
