• Kansas ranks 1st in state and local taxes as a percentage of income (ouch!).

• Kansas has the 3rd highest corporate tax rate in America.

• Kansas ranks just 40th in job growth overall, because of high tax rates and large employer losses.

• Kansas lost more than 3,800 jobs in the first 8 months of 2006, one of only three states to have actual job loss this year.

• Kansas has racked up a staggering $3.95+ billion debt.

• Kansas' debt is $1,169 per person (an 832% increase since 1992, and most of it from 2003-2006).

• Kansas' debt is more than twice that of neighboring states (Missouri, Nebraska & Oklahoma).
