Representative Owen Donohoe Declares Re-Election Bid

Representative Owen Donohoe (R-Shawnee) recently filed for re-election to serve the people of the 39th District in the Kansas House of Representatives.

"It is a privilege and an honor to serve District 39 in Topeka and I want to continue the work I started last session and will continue this upcoming session," Representative Donohoe said. "I am pleased with the $300 million worth of tax cuts that were passed last session, setting the foundations for free-market health reform, and the beginning of a process to cut government bureaucracy in education."

Representative Donohoe also said that he is looking forward to working on upcoming issues that affect District 39 and the entire state.

"Being an elected representative allows me the opportunity to find common-sense solutions to problems facing everyday Kansans. As we discuss healthcare reform, education needs in our state, the bloated size of state government, and undue regulations facing business, I will be a constant supporter of government working to help empower Kansans."

Speaker of the House Melvin Neufeld (R-Ingalls) was happy to see that Representative Donohoe filed for re-election. "Owen is an excellent representative and one that is very in-tune with his district. Representative Donohoe works hard for his constituents to cut government waste and fight for education reform--he serves District 39 very well."

Representative Owen Donohoe was elected in 2006 and serves on the Education, Federal and State Affairs, and Economic Development and Tourism Committees. He was named a Pro-Jobs Legislator for the 2007 Kansas Legislative Session by the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and was named "Champion of the Taxpayer" among legislators in Kansas. Representative Donohoe will continue to work on initiatives that reduce taxes and encourage job growth in the upcoming legislative session, which begins next month.
